Wenjing Lou

Wenjing Lou is a Fellow of the IEEE. Her research interests cover many topics in the cybersecurity field, with her current research interest focusing on blockchain, privacy protection in machine learning systems, and security and privacy problems in the Internet of Things (IoT) systems. 

A highly cited researcher by the Web of Science Group, Lou joined Virginia Tech in 2011. In 2018, she was recognized with the Virginia Tech Alumni Award for Research Excellence in 2018, the highest university level faculty research award. Lou received the Technical Recognition Award from IEEE Communications Society Technical Committee on Security in 2016  and in 2020, she received the IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications (INFOCOM) Test-of-Time paper award.

She is currently on the editorial boards of IEEE Transaction on Dependable and Secure Computing (TDSC) and ACM/IEEE Transactions on Networking (ToN); Steering Committee chair of the IEEE CNS conference series; and a Steering Committee member of IEEE INFOCOM conference and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. 

From 2014 to 2017, she served as a program director at the National Science Foundation (NSF) where her responsibilities included the Networking Technology and Systems (NeTS) program and the Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program.

Lou holds a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Florida.
